According to the poll, IIT Mumbai's placement report states, "In 2010-11, IIT Bombay approached its placement season with high expectations, buoyed by strong economic news and increasing hiring. Over 950 positions were provided through on-campus and pre-placement offers, with over 250 firms participating in the campus placement."

 

According to DQ, IIT-B is aggressive in terms of research and industry-institute collaboration. According to the study, the institute is collaborating with the sector on country-specific research activities. It has also worked on an Open Collaboration Research (OCR) project with IBM.

 

Infrastructure and academic environment are additional strong points for IIT Bombay. In terms of alumni funding, the college is also at the top. Engineering, pure sciences, design, management, and humanities courses are all available at the institute.

 

2. IIT Madras 

 

IIT Madras is ranked No. 2 on the list of the best engineering colleges in 2011, up two spots from its 2010 ranking. The college receives a 28.6 out of 40 placement rating.

 

According to the DQ study, IIT Madras has risen from 11th rank last year to third place this year in the placement category.

 

The college was ranked No. 2 in the industry interface ranking, with a score of 3.7 out of 5, behind National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal.

 

According to the DQ report, IIT Madras does exceptionally well in terms of industry-academic cooperation. IIT Madras is ranked second in terms of academic climate, after only IIT Kharagpur. The college was ranked second in terms of infrastructure, behind IIT-Bombay.

 

3. IIT Delhi 

 

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, is ranked third, down one spot from its 2010 ranking. With a score of 25.9 on a scale of 40, the college is ranked No. 6 in terms of placement.

 

The college is ranked third in terms of academic atmosphere, industrial interface, and infrastructure.

 

IIT Delhi, like all other IITs, is most recognised for its undergraduate programmes, which include a Bachelor of Technology, a dual-degree Bachelor-Master of Technology, and an Integrated Master of Technology.

 

4. IIT Kharagpur

 

IIT Kharagpur is ranked No. 4 on the list of India's Best Engineering Colleges, down one spot from 2010. On the placement front, the college is ranked No. 7 with a score of 25.3 out of 40. In 2010, the college was ranked second in the placement category, with a score of 30.2 out of 40.

 

In terms of academics, the IIT-Kharagpur outperforms the competition, taking first place with a score of 15.7 out of 20. On the infrastructure parameter, the college has a 6.1 out of 10 rating.

 

IIT Kharagpur is an autonomous engineering and technology-focused higher education institute founded by the Indian government in 1951. The Government of India has designated it as an Institute of National Importance, making it one of the original thirteen IITs to be established.

 

5. International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad

 

IIIT, Hyderabad, is ranked No. 5 on the list, unchanged from 2010. With a score of 30, the institute comes out on top in the placement category (out of 40). The institute achieved a score of 29.7 (out of 40) in the placement parameter at No. 3 the previous year (2010).

 

However, it appears that the college needs to improve its infrastructure. It is ranked 10th in the infrastructure category, with a score of 5.8 out of 10. The institute is ranked 8th in the academic environment category, with a score of 10.8. (out of 20).

 

The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad was founded in 1998 with help from the Andhra Pradesh government.

 

6. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

 

Next on the list of the best engineering colleges in 2011, is BITS Pilani. The institute has risen three places from its 2010 ranking to No. 6. The college is ranked No. 8 in terms of placement, with a score of 25 out of 40.

 

BITS has campuses in Pilani, Rajasthan, as well as Goa and Hyderabad, India, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It also has a Bangalore extension centre.

 

7. Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati

 

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is ranked seventh best engineering college in DQ's 2011 ranking. The college is ranked No. 10 in terms of placement, with a score of 24.3 out of 40.

 

With a score of 6.8 out of 10, the college came in fourth place in the infrastructure category. In terms of academics, the college is ranked No. 7 in the top ten, with a score of 10.4 on a scale of 20.

 

8. Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi

 

The Government of India has designated IIT Guwahati as an Institute of National Importance.

 

The Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, is ranked eighth. The institute has dropped one spot from its previous ranking in 2010.

 

In terms of placement and infrastructure, the college isn't even in the top ten. However, the college comes in fifth place in the academic environment category, with a score of 10.9 on a scale of 20.

 

IT-BHU was founded in Varanasi in 1919 and now comprises 13 departments and three inter-disciplinary schools.

 

9. National Institute of Technology, Karnataka

 

National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, is ranked ninth, up one position from its 2010 ranking. While the college does not rank in the top ten in the placement category, it is placed No. 9 in the infrastructure sector with a 5.0 out of 10 score.

 

The Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal, was established in July 1960 as a joint venture between the Karnataka government and the Central government.

 

10. Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, Delhi

 

The Delhi-based Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is ranked tenth. The Faculty of Technology at the University of Delhi oversees the institute. With a score of 26.1 out of 40, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is ranked fifth in the placement sector.

 

The college, on the other hand, does not rank in the top ten in the infrastructure and academic environment categories.
